Watching Sheffield Wednesday lose to Plymouth

On 16 November we took the train to Plymouth to see the Owls lose to Plymouth as a start to the next phase of our walking the South West Coast Trail. As we waited for the train in Paddington Station is was interesting to see a falconer, with falcon, who was training the falcon to go after pidgeons.
We got to Plymouth at dark and walked to the Crown Plaza near the ocean front. Along the way is an area called Plymouth Hoe - not a local prostitute, but derives from the Anglo-Saxon word hoh, a sloping ridge shaped like an inverted foot and heel. This term survives in a few other placenames, notably Sutton Hoo. After we ditched our packs we walked to the Hoe waterfront area which had a beautiful view of lighted monuments and the Smeaton Tower lighthouse.
We ate at a pizza express where we had a phenomenal tomato and mozzarella salad and only average pizzas and then walked over to the stadium. We had to sit in the home team stands which was rather awkward as we were forced to stand when the Pilgrims scored 3 goals to our 0. At least home was downhill and the weather was mild.
