Making it to Portsmouth Harbor in a Downpour

We ran out of luck on the weather today. As short, flat 6.5 miles from Haylings Island to our hotel in Portsmouth Harbor.

The walk was along the seafront all the way. There were several gun placements to walk by on the way to the ferry.

At that point the rain started. We weren't even sure the ferry was running because it was already supposed to be on our side of the channel. The blackboard at the dock said there were no other passengers so far on December 6. Watching the ferry approaching the dock you can see the strength of the current because the boat can't come straight across. With us on the ferry is a bicyclist on his way from Cornwall to Southampton - quite a ride in this weather.

On the other side we follow the promenade to the Holiday Inn - and about half a mile from our destination the deluge begins. A good test of our waterproofs. For dinner we went to The Rocka Restaurant which got great reviews, but was desperately average.
