July15, 2021, day 2 of the trek: "only" 10 miles and easier terrain. I made it. There were several river crossings, including the Bláfjallakvísl River, which were easier than yesterday because Gully wrapped up my leg in green tape and because the area was rather dry. We had a beautiful place for lunch on a waterfall. The environment changed from mountains to a volcanic field - black rocks and some green mountains. We started walking along roads and had to move out of the way of some transformed cars - transformed to be able to go off-road on bad roads. We saw one of the trucks crossing the river.
We took a break at the Hvanngil hut where there were some Icelandic horses we could get a close look at. There were also some ruins nearby. As we came into Emstrur we could see a glacier in the distance.
