Hayling Island - Day 3

So happy to be leaving The Robin Hood Inn. Breakfast was only average - sausage tasted a bit like like sawdust.
Today, December 5, is a bit of a shorter day - about 8.5 miles - and flat. The weather is cloudy, colder and windy - perfect for hiking. We walked through Havant, which seemed to have a bit more going for it than Rowlands Castle.
We stopped for a break and a warm up in Langstone after about 4 miles. Langstone is just before crossing the causeway and the pub was called The Ships Inn.
The Island was a nice change - on the water, wild life, and lovely views. We saw highland cattle, a kestral (?), and Brent Geese. We also got a glimpse of Portland Harbor. There were also quite a number of defense gun placements.
The Newton House Hotel was a nice change from Robin Hood - maybe it seemed even better because Robin Hood was so bad. They were polar opposites - where Robin Hood was dark and small, Newton House was large and light. That said, Newton House needed some care and feeding - the WIFI didn't work in the room, there was wood rot around the windows, the water took forever to heat, the faucet handles were on backwards, etc. Chris, Mr IT, got roped into WIFI consulting to the owner who was clueless.
The best news was finding a wonderful Indian dinner option.
