Omey Island - so good I went back several times

Omey Island is a tidal island on the Western side of Connemara. It's possible to walk (or drive) across the sand during low tide and fun because you could get stranded if you get the tides wrong.
People do live there; although, there are no hotels or markets. It was fun to walk around and see the sea crash against the rocks. It was a wonderful place for a picnic. Jellyfish of several colors were left by the tide. I found some sheep teeth in a midden. There is a large cemetery on Omey Island with over 500 graves, some dating back to the 6th century. At one point there were nearby cillin - cemeteries unconsecrated by the church where unbaptized babies were buried. Also buried in cillin were people unknown to the local community.
