Zip Lining

Today is our last day in Mindo (January 12). We had a lie in and had breakfast at 8:30. I actually had breakfast today because I wanted to have their homemade yogurt and granola and a fruit salad one more time.

After breakfast I had a nice time sitting and watching the hummingbirds which was very relaxing before heading out to the zip line adventure.

This was the first time I had formally done zip lining. In Russia team building there was something like it over a gorge- no helmet and no safety precautions- so was a bit nervous about doing it here.

This experience had 10 "zips" along fast and slow lines. In between we walked up some steep paths to the next "launch" zone and I was so happy to be able to keep up with the group!

There were options to so "superman" or "butterfly " poses where you would do a double zip tethered to an employee. Rob did it, but I didn't- too much fun.... I did find another orchid while hiking between stops.

I felt invigorated when we finished and was glad to get those smelly gloves off. I was happy not to have lost my fanny pack with all my stuff in it. Ann had her wallet and phone in unzipped pockets and was very happy they stayed there - A happy ending for all.

We came back to pack and have lunch. I had one of the amazing hamburgers for a last time. I also saw this big snail on the walkway.

and we drove the 2 hours back to the EB in Quito and the higher altitude.

Once there, I spent time weighing luggage and arranging to get this wrapped at the airport.

We had a nice dinner together and I tried a Canelazo which is a traditional spiced hot drink from the highlands in Ecuador. The original canelazo recipe is made by boiling water with cinnamon and sugar or panela, then mix with a local sugar cane alcohol called punta or aguardiente. Mine had aguardiente in it.

Here is our travel for the day
