Japan!

This trip has been years in the making. I started to plan in in 2018 and was scheduled for the summer of 2020, I've been through 4 travel agents at the agency and it was lucky as agent number 4 decided we needed to fully replan the itinerary. While I was not happy with this given the time I spent on the first one, the first one would have been a disaster with very difficult logistics.

This journey includes hiking to the top of Mount Fuji, two of the oldest ryokon in Japan (and oldest hotels in the world), and an ancient pilgrimage route called the Kumano Kodo.

To make things more interesting, Typhoon Lan is on it's way and will land on the same day I will.

Packing took hours...

When public transport works in England it is wonderful and it doesn't happen very often. I was able to get to Heathrow Airport from Liphook for about £10 in stead of £110. The trains left on time.

We got Through the tunnel at Guildford without any bricks falling on the train and train was actually early into Woking. In Woking I changed to the Heathrow Bus which Went by McLaren where Sasha used to work.

I got to the airport with plent of time to spare and eat (and eat and drink)

in the lounge for my 1.50 hour flight to Oslo.

My route takes me from Liphook to LHR. Then a flight to Oslo where I overnight. Tomorrow I take a flight to Haneda Airport via Frankfurt.

The Oslo flight was about 30 minutes late, but uneventful. Funny that at the gate there was an advertisement for Japan....

I stayed at the Radisson Blu at the airport, so really convenient,

and had dinner downstairs - too lazy to go into Oslo. Herring and beer - really tasty.

Then up to bed and keeping fingers (and toes) crossed for flights and good weather tomorrow.
