Back to Tokyo

November 19, 2025, from the itinerary: Travel back to Tokyo.
I had a morning bath with a beautiful view. This will be my last beautiful view in the lovely autumn quiet Japanese countryside before returning to reality.
Breakfast was another multi-course meal, full of exotic options. I found I was eating less fish and more rice as I think my system is rather done ingesting unusual fish.
Today was taken by traveling by train back up to Tokyo. this took approximately five hours
and 3 trains.
Along the way you can see Mt. Fuji, but today it was hidden by clouds and rain. Here’s a photo that is not Mt. Fuji, but is a nice snow covered hill.
Back to Tokyo chaos and trying to find the correct exit from the crazy Tokyo train station. Eventually I got on the right metro to Asakusa and walked the last 10 minutes to the Prostyle Ryokan.
I’ve stayed in this hotel before and like it. It’s central and yet has private onsens, air conditioners that work and a homey atmosphere (homely if you are from the UK).
My room had a view of the Tokyo Tower which looked beautiful after dark.
My itinerary said dinner was included, but it wasn’t - seems the itinerary wasn’t updated - so I had to find an option for the meal.
Toroiya came up as number 7 of the top restaurants in asakusa on trip advisor. Their specialties are gyoza and ramen. I had to wait in line for about 10 minutes to get in. I had the vegan ramen which was good, not great. I should have just had 2 orders of the gyoza because that was pretty good.
I walked back to the hotel and realized along the way that somehow I managed to lose my Suica card - this is a card available only at the airport. It is used mostly on transportation, but more and more to buy goods and services. You load it with yen and then tap in/out as you take different forms of transport. Thankfully there was only about $4 left on it, so no big deal, but had to think of a different option for tomorrow’s metro and getting to the airport. The JR pass wouldn’t work for that. That is tomorrow’s problem.
Amazingly I did not lose either my JR pass, my passport or my wallet on this trip (so far) - well done me.
